TOC News and Announcements

Dear James
We are sorry that this email is slightly longer than usual but the content is very exciting for us and all those who recognise the power of the TOC approach.

We are proud to announce that the world-wide organisation, 'TOC for Education', is holding its annual Thinking Skills conference in the UK
this summer.  We would like to encourage you to invite your family, friends and colleagues who are interested in or are involved in the education of young people, to experience first hand the successes being achieved.  The conference will enable them to discover the tools and knowledge which are significantly impacting children, parents and teachers alike across the world.

The children are using the tools to sort out some of their own obstacles to learning, relationship problems with family or others and many other issues.  In case you are not convinced yet, here is a quote from a primary school pupil from Mexico.  There are hundreds of examples from children and those teaching children who are getting substantial personal benefit from the use of the TOC Thinking tools:
"I'm so happy to receive the tools because I have learned to have better control of my activities as well as to grow as a person.  Now I have a better relationship with my Mom and brother, I now do my homework, I wake up in the morning with the wish to get better and better and with the wish to go to school. And my grades have been the best of my life."

And one from an Infant School Head Teacher in the UK:
"I'm now convinced the children gain immeasurably not only by gaining knowledge (from applying the tools to subjects within our lessons) but in developing thinking skills... a way forward to open up children's minds to thinking around problems and issues."

And from a parent of a 7 year old girl with special needs, UK:
"Never before has she perceived people's feelings and expressed them.  Everyone (family, friends, school) has noticed a dramatic improvement.  The good thing is that it seems to be lasting.  This is certainly an unexpected bonus."

The TOC for Education 6th International Thinking Skills conference will be held at the University of Nottingham, July 8-11, 2002

Best wishes for 2002
