Points Sheraton in Monrovia.

Our format is typically a networking dinner before a Keynote Speaker.

On occasion we may also have a special pre-dinner clinic topic.
Door prizes are given out, when available, at the end of the meeting.

Callendars in West Covina, on "Restaurant Row".
Contact the Chair (Stephen Soukup)
for more information or for special Executive Board meetings.
Who can attend ASQ 702 Section Meetings ?
Almost all section meetings are open to members and non-members of
ASQ alike, whether you are a member of our Section 702 or not. Normally
any fees charged (dinner, tips, etc.) are the same for all. The Section
does however reserve the right to occasionally restrict attendance and/or
utilize differential attendance fees when appropriate - for example, when
the Section is covering part or all of out-of-pocket expenses for a specific
or special venue.
Do I have to pay to attend the meeting?
No. Attending the monthly meeting is free. You are only required to
pay a fee if you are joining us for dinner or dessert.
You are welcome to bring co-workers and / or friends
Why do we meet in Monrovia at the Four Points Sheraton ?
Section 702 covers a very wide territory from Pasadena to the Inland
Empire (West to East) and from Duarte to North Orange County (North to
South)
Our currently meeting location is in Monrovia, which is the most northern
location to our member demographics.
We are looking into other cities for a new location to better provide
a reasonably central location to our members.
We have used the The Four Points Sheraton in Monrovia for over a year and a half now, with much success. We previously met in a very small and dark restaurant in Monrovia that was not in line with our professional section. Restaurants/Hotels are chosen on a number of criteria: cost, food options, service, room, parking, availability. But if you have recommendations for alternate locations, please let us know, we are always examining our options. [ NOTE: We are currently looking at other hotels as alternate venues to compare prices and benefits. ]
What does my $20 - $25 cover as far as meeting expenses?
The $20 - $25 we charge at the dinner meetings each month covers the base cost of the food (usually $15-$20), as well as the California Tax (8.25%) as well as the TIP for the hotel (18%). Since we are a non-profit organization we cannot offer any compensation to our guest speakers. We merely offer to pay for their dinner at our expense. We expect our members to help us with that expense and so we add $1 for each person to cover those costs. Many times, we are actually charging LESS than we should, and sometimes do not always cover our costs for the dinner meetings.
Here is an example of a recent dinner charge:
Buffet Cost : $19.95
Tax @ 8.25 % = $1.65
Tip @ 18% = $3.59
$1 for Speakers Dinner = $1
Total Cost to ASQ = $26.19
Actual Fee Charged by ASQ to members - $20 or $25
Obviously we cant continue to undercharge and lose money each month. We are looking at ways to reduce our expenses and still keep costs low for our members.
Can I pay/pre-pay for my dinner using my credit card?
YES. ASQ 702 has an account set up with Paypal, the #1 online payment system.
Our monthly events page has buttons where you can click on your dinner
choice and "Add to Basket".
You then be sent to a page to send your money, or you can request we
send you an invoice for your dinner.
Your transaction is 100% secure. We never see your personal or credit
card information.
Paypal handles all the info. The funds are automatically transferred
from your card to our bank.
NOTE: Since Paypal charges us a transaction fee, we do split this cost with our members. Currently we add $0.50 for a $20-$25 dinner and $0.25 for a $7 dessert
Can I get a receipt for reimbursement of driving miles or meeting
cost for the meeting ?
Yes, the section supplies each person in attendance with a Receipt
for that can be used for reimbursement as well as RU / CEU credits.
I missed one of the meetings. Can I get copies of the handouts? How
can I find out what I missed?
Yes. Usually our guest speakers provide us with copies of their presentations
to put on our website. You can go to our Archives
page to download the material.
Each month we also write up a summary of the previous months event
in our newsletter. Go to our Newsletter page
to download the issue you need to read up on what you missed.
How else can I get information on what is happening in the Section?

out to all Section members (with valid E-mail addresses) and some other
non-members who have requested it. If you would like a sample copy, contact
the Newsletter Editor or go
to our Newsletter page and download your own

or both. Gabriel's Horn reaches almost 400 quality professionals monthly.
